Moose Habitat Survey

Moose are an economically important species in 熊猫在线视频, providing cultural, financial, and subsistence benefits to area residents. AERC, in partnership with the University of 熊猫在线视频 Anchorage and the Institute for Economic and Social Research (ISER), completed the first evaluation of JBER鈥檚 moose browse management areas to determine their quality and successional state. The research team made recommendations for the ongoing management of JBER鈥檚 moose habitat and worked with JBER to conduct remediation projects to enhance existing moose habitat.

Project goals: Review management reports, enhancement plans, and GIS data on enhanced moose browse locations; survey habitat enhancement plots for current quality and availability of moose browse; modify and update moose management plans based on the information gathered from reviews and surveys,; and implement habitat remediation informed by the updated moose management plan.
