From Classroom to Community - DEI in Research and Creative Activity

Community engagement is critical to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and creative activity at UAA. Faculty, staff, and students engage with communities to address their health needs. The third Spring ‘24 COH Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Symposium will highlight faculty research that examines disparities that influence the health and wellbeing of all ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵns. We will also have an immersive musical performance by Gail Jackson from . Come join our final symposium of the year - it will be worth it!

Incorporating DEI into General Education Requirements

Faculty members are responsible for creating an equitable learning experience. As students navigate their early studies at UAA, they must meet several general education requirements (GER's). The second Spring ‘24 COH Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Symposium features faculty and staff who champion the integration of DEIJ into their curriculum, along with guidance on the process of designating a course with the DEI GER status. They’ll share their experiences and lessons learned as the presence of DEI studies has become more prominent in recent years. Come learn about DEIJ opportunities and efforts at UAA.

Creating Safe, Equitable, and Affirming Spaces to Advance Student Health and Well-Being

Students are the heart of UAA and the university strives to create a space where everyone feels welcome. The first Spring ‘24 COH Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Symposium features students and staff who champion these spaces and efforts. They’ll share their experiences building a community on campus and the importance of creating a sense of belonging in healthcare. Come learn about DEIJ opportunities and efforts at UAA.
