In addition to the UAA SOE, teacher candidates must submit state, university, and school district applications (if applicable). As of June 1, 2024, DEED Teacher Certification only accepts online Student Teaching Authorization Applications through TEACH-AK. You must complete a Student Teacher Program Enrollment Form, provide verification of a, and submit a. Once your DEED Authorization has been submitted through TEACH-AK, you will submit the Internship Placement Application. Depending on your internship location, you may also be required to submit an application directly to the school district. The SOE Student Success Office will advise you if this is necessary.

DEED Student Teaching Authorization

  1. You will receive the from Sydney Stokes (sastokes3@alaska.edu) via DocuSign for completion.
  2. Register at and follow the for account set up and log in.
  3. Follow the instructions to apply for Student Teaching Authorization.
  4. Upload all documentation directly to your application in TEACH-AK.
      1. Under Endorsement Request, upload the Student Teacher Program Enrollment Form received from Sydney via DocuSign. Contact Sydney if you still need to receive this form.
  5. After completing all sections and ensuring each has a green check, proceed to the Affirmation, sign it electronically, and submit.

Once DEED processes your application, you will receive three copies of the Student-Teacher Authorization. Distribute these as follows:

School District Application

If you plan to student teach in Anchorage, you will also need to submit an application directly to the district. Visit the (see Student Teacher Interns section) to access the portal. Note that applications are open January-March for fall placements. You may be required to submit a second application September-October for the spring semester.
