An article by Justice faculty Dr. Brad Myrstol on "" has been published in the current issue of , Volume 35, Number 1, 2012.

â¶Ä¨The article reports findings from Dr. Myrstol's research examining the intersection of citizen alcohol use and police patrol. Topics addressed include the prevalence of alcohol-related tasks performed by patrol officers, the amount of time patrol officers dedicate to alcohol-related tasks, the nature and contextual features of alcohol-related encounters and the characteristics of citizens involved in alcohol-related incidents.
Using data collected through 650 hours of direct social observations with the Anchorage Police Department, the article provides the best available estimates of patrol officers' alcohol-related workload as well as important policy implications.
