Sept. 10, 2012: Engage without Borders: Consulting in the Community
by Michelle Saport |
Monday, Sept. 10, 4:30-6 p.m.
UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 307
What can students provide as young professionals in developing nations from the Pacific Islands to Africa? Plenty when they're motivated to solve the big problems facing communities, working alongside community members!
Join us on Monday, Sept. 10, for engaging presentations by Professor Alex Hills' students from Carnegie Mellon University. Hills, a Distinguished Service Professor at Carnegie Mellon and former University of 熊猫在线视频 professor, brings his students to 熊猫在线视频 to illustrate a "consulting in the community" model.
These dynamic students worked as community consultants on 10-week summer projects, ranging from information technology to management to engineering. Explore how UAA might expand our own community engagement to include a similarly structured model for international engagement or outreach in rural 熊猫在线视频! Lt. Governor Mead Treadwell will give opening remarks before the presentations.
