Please join us for a discussion with Consul General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest,
Andy David, on the turmoil in the Middle East. Kelly Shannon, Ph.D., will moderate
the discussion.
Andy David, Ph.D., is the Consul General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest as of August 2012. He initiated his diplomatic career in 1998, and has since served as a policy advisor to the foreign minister, the ministry's deputy spokesman and has held positions in the Eurasia Department and in Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation. His overseas appointments include positions in the Embassy of Israel in Azerbaijan, the Israeli Consulate in Hong Kong and the Israeli Consulate in Chicago.
David was born in Romania and immigrated at the age of two with his family to Israel. He earned three degrees at Jerusalem's Hebrew University: doctorate of dental medicine; master of science; and bachelor of medical science, graduating magna cum laude. He then went on to lecture, instruct, research and practice for the Faculty of Dental Medicine at Hebrew University and was also a medical advisor for DENX Medical Device Company in Israel. David spent three years in the Israel Air Force and in RAFAEL, the Ministry of Defense's Armament Development Authority. He is a graduate of the Executive Combating Terrorism program at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.
