UAA celebrates World AIDS Day Saturday, Dec. 1

The Dean of Students Office would like to remind the entire UAA community that Dec. 1 is World AIDS Day. Help UAA raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity. World AIDS Day is an opportunity to spread awareness about the status of the pandemic and encourage progress in prevention, treatment and care in countries around the world.
We encourage UAA staff, faculty and students to attend a program or plan an event in your areas. See how individuals and communities are participating in the (you can participate here, too) and for more information about World AIDS Day.
UAA campus & community program highlights:
- Thursday-Friday, Nov. 29-30, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.: Students living in the on-campus community are encouraged to stop in the Residence Life main office, adjacent to the Gorsuch Commons, to pick up a red ribbon button and help promote awareness. Available while supplies last.
- Saturday, Dec. 1, 3 p.m.: UAA's Department of Residence Life will host a study session with an informational board commemorating World AIDS Day and will provide resources for additional information about the pandemic in North Hall, 3rd Floor Lounge. This program is free and open to residential students.
- Saturday, Dec. 1, 4 p.m.: World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil at the 熊猫在线视频 Center for the Performing Arts. Gathering in Voth Hall. Candlelight vigil to follow in Town Square, presented by Four A's (熊猫在线视频n AIDS Assistance Association). For more information, .
- Saturday, Dec. 1, 7-8:30 p.m.: The Department of Health Sciences, Minor in Public Health Program will sponsor "Let's Talk About Sex" at the Gorsuch Commons, featuring pizza, games and prizes. Featuring speaker Taija Revels. This event is free and open to all students and promises to be an educational and fun way to talk about healthy sex and sexuality.
