Deadline: Extended to Friday, April 10, 2015
The Office of International and Intercultural Affairs and the Sons of Norway Trustees are now accepting applications for the Kaare Birkeland Norweigan USA Exchange Scholarship.
The Kaare Birkeland Norweigan USA Exchange Scholarship can be awarded in alternating years to a UAA student for study at the University of Stavanger (UiS) in Southcentral Norway. For the 2015-16 academic year, the scholarship amount is $4,000 per semester, for a total of $8,000 for the year. Tuition at UiS is free, permitting the scholarship recipient to use the funds to defray other costs associated with studying at UiS. The scholarship is available to students who wish to study at UiS for either one or two semesters.
The University of Stavanger welcomes students from all over the world. It is situated in one of the most attractive cities in the country on the Southwestern coast and enrolls approximately 10,100 students. The number of international study programs taught in English at the University of Stavanger is constantly growing, making it an attractive choice for students in certain fields.
Courses successfully completed at UiS count as resident credit at UAA. Depending on the student's course selection, they may also count toward a student's degree requirements.
The city of Stavanger has some 125,000 inhabitants. Stavanger is the oil and energy capital in Norway with a dynamic job market and exciting culture and leisure activities. It is the fourth largest city in Norway.
Eligibility criteria for UAA applicants:
- Be a full-time, degree-seeking UAA student
- Be at least 18 years of age or older
- Have at least a 2.0 GPA
Financial need is considered. Preference is given to students who are motivated, and demonstrate academic and leadership potential. Students may have any major or class standing.
