Study in Africa this summer!

The Office of Education Abroad invites you to attend a two-week course in the West African nation of Senegal this May. Professor Dorn Van Dommelen from UAA's Department of Geography and Environmental Studies will lead this short-term course from May 18 to May 31, 2019 exploring questions of international development in Senegal, with examinations of the country's history, geography and development. It will explore efforts to improve standards of living through a number of aid efforts while evaluating the effectiveness of aid.
This three-credit program includes:
- Pre-departure online orientation
- On-site orientation
- Airport transfers at arrival and departure
- Homestay accommodations with breakfasts
- Travel insurance
- 24-hour emergency support seven days a week
Be sure to meet with your academic advisor to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for this course, and to confirm if credits can be applied to your degree. Basic requirements include a 2.5 grade point average, good standing with the university, approval from the faculty leader (Professor Van Dommelen) and attendance at all pre-departure orientations.
