Updates to phone handset billing

UAA IT Services announced a change earlier this year to how phone handsets are billed to departments.
In the past, all colleges, community campuses, departments, and other organizations have been billed monthly for telephone service as well as long distance. Starting this fiscal year, billing will be done on an annual basis. Department's should see these annual charges hit accounts in the next few weeks.
These changes help to reduce the expense to UAA of having to process multiple bills and accounting transactions in both systems and staff effort. A flat annual charge per handset should also make it easier for departments to budget.
A couple of important notes:
- Phone service will not be prorated. Phones added or removed during the year will not impact the amount you are charged for that fiscal year once the count has been conducted.
- Long distance charges are no longer billed back to departments on a line item basis. The cost is simply rolled into the overall charge.
- Grants (fund 2s) will be billed quarterly. For this fiscal year, the first three quarters will be billed as separate quarterly line items around the same time. The fourth quarter expense will be billed in the first week of March.
