Student Life and Leadership

How do you contribute to student success?
In Student Life and Leadership, we believe engagement enriches the student experience. With more than 120 student clubs and organizations, involvement offers students the chance to shape their campus community through the development of peer networks, campus activities and industry partnerships. My job is awesome — I get to work with student leaders to support their unique ambitions and goals while developing successful student organizations and a vibrant campus community.

How long have you worked at UAA? Why did you decide to join UAA?
I began working at UAA in 2017 supporting the student media organizations, The Northern Light and KRUA 88.1-FM, when my husband and I moved to ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ from Denver, Colorado. As a former commuter student myself, I am passionate about the commuter experience and recognize the huge potential within UAA to transform students' lives.

What is the most common question you receive at work?
"How do I start a club?"

What do you enjoy most about working at UAA?
Aside from the amazing students I get to work with every day, I absolutely love the team that makes up Student Life and Leadership. Every day, I am reminded of the importance of our work on campus, I am inspired by team leadership and colleagues, and I am encouraged to be an innovator in student engagement in the state of ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment while working here at UAA?
I am very proud of my work supporting our fraternity and sorority organizations, empowering them to take ownership of their experiences on campus. Over the last year, the organizations have engaged in meaningful partnerships, increasing opportunities for inter-organization networking and community development. Less than four weeks into the semester, the community raised over $1,100 in support of local philanthropies.

What is your favorite ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ activity?
I love to run! Summer running, winter running, there's just a different energy when you run in ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I am absolutely obsessed with Formula 1, and my bucket list travel destinations all revolve around the opportunity to attend a country's Grand Prix.
