Faculty Learning Community on Scholarly Writing:
Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks
Co-facilitators: Dr. Sara Buckingham (Psychology); Dr. Mary Jo Finney (Graduate School)
Sessions offered via Zoom* on Monday afternoons, Jan. 31 - April 25, from 2:30-3:45 p.m. Start the week off strong by making progress on your scholarly writing on a consistent, weekly basis!
Do you have a conference paper languishing? A data set that needs your attention? Grab your laptop and join others for a block of quiet, uninterrupted writing time guided by the exceptionally helpful resource Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks: A Guide to Academic Publishing Success, written by Dr. Wendy Laura Belcher (Princeton University). Dr. Sara Buckingham and Dr. Mary Jo Finney will be on hand to get things started using sections of the book. You'll be surprised at how much you'll accomplish over the course of the next few weeks!
Intended audience:
Faculty, postdocs, and other university professionals who would like to make progress
on a specific scholarly writing project. Participants from all UAA campus locations
are invited. Space is limited.
Schedule:
- Sessions run 2:30-3:45 p.m.*
- Jan. 31
- Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28
- March 14, 21, 28 (March 7 is Spring Break)
- April 4, 11, 18, 25
*Sessions via Zoom.
This series will begin with sessions held exclusively via Zoom; a link will be sent upon registration. As the semester progresses, we may be able to offer mixed synchronous sessions with participants joining via Zoom and on site. We'll stay connected with the co-facilitators and will see how things progress.
Getting the resource
A limited number of copies of the book are available on reserve in the UAA/APU Consortium
Library for those who register for the writing community. We will be in touch with
participants serving at sites outside Anchorage to arrange for check out of the resource.
