Engineering Alumni Outreach

While we are a relatively new Alumni Chapter鈥攐fficially established in May 2013鈥擟oEng alumni have already begun to make our mark with our outreach programs, all of which come from鈥攁nd are succeeding because of鈥攖he efforts of our alumni.

STEM Program

The UAA CoEng Alumni has partnered with United Way to start a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Program at Lake Hood. Each month of the school year, individuals who work or study in the STEM field present to the students of Lake Hood about what they do in their career or what they do in school. This program immerses the students in various real-life applications of STEM

We are currently partnered with United Way, Anchorage School District (ASD) and UAA American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

This past year, students enjoyed presentations on UAA robotics and video game design, HDR's award-winning fish hatchery and ASCE student chapters' projects, and R&M's ocean engineering.

UAA Undergraduate Mentoring

Our mentoring program offers support for engineering students, and later, as new graduates stepping into their engineering careers. Our goal is to connect students with alumni and other professional engineers to build relationships through tutoring, project site visits, and shadowing opportunities.

In addition, we seek to connect high school students with UAA student leaders so they can learn about various engineering majors and options for future careers.
