Clinical-community psychology doctoral degree program highlights
UAA鈥檚 Ph.D. in clinical-community psychology integrates cultural diversity and social justice into research and practice to develop applied knowledge and skills through hands-on experiences.- Develop advanced skills in applied research design and analysis. You will have extensive opportunities for community-based graduate research through coursework, assistantships, independent projects, and a doctoral dissertation.
- Increase your level of competency in clinical psychology practice with at least four clinical practicum semesters. Hands-on training in a clinical setting starts with a supervised clinical practicum in the UAA Psychological Services Center and builds up to clinical practicum placements in which you鈥檒l handle more complex cases in a community setting.
- Gain competency in community psychology with skills training and development. This program component starts with coursework to develop foundational skills and knowledge and is followed by a supervised practicum in a community-based setting.
- Participate in a first-year cultural experience that creates opportunities to interact with cultural elders and advisors. In a non-classroom setting, you will be exposed to diverse worldviews, values, and life experiences of different cultures, including 熊猫在线视频 Native and Native American culture.

A low-cost mental health clinic, UAA鈥檚 Psychological Services Center serves the Anchorage campus and community. As a doctoral student, you will have opportunities to work in the Center, providing clinical services to the community while gaining practicum experience.
Serve and lead in the campus and Anchorage communities. As a Ph.D. candidate, you could be a representative on a psychology graduate program committee. You could also join faculty mentors who are actively involved in community engagement and social justice.
