As 2021 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the year and the incredible strides we have made together as a university community. While the year has certainly posed challenges along with some new reasons for thankfulness, I am continually reminded of your resilience — our students, faculty and staff who persevere and continue the inspiring work of pursuing education, conducting research and contributing to the vitality of our Southcentral ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ communities.

Enrollment Services Center lobby closed Dec. 20-22

Office of the Bursar early closure Wednesday, Dec. 22

The UAA Office of the Bursar - including Cashiering - will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22. Student account payments may be made 24/7 via UAOnline. Departmental deposits are due to Cashiering no later than 10:30 a.m. to ensure they are ready for Axiom pickup prior to the winter break closure.

General Support Services early closure Wednesday, Dec. 22

General Support Services will close early Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. No afternoon mail routes. All certified, insured, international mail as well as all FedEx and UPS must be to the Mailroom counter by 11:00 a.m. to be processed and go out the same day. USPS mail will be accepted until 1 p.m.

UAA IT Services operations during the AY21-22 Winter Break

UAA Information Technology Services is available to help students, faculty, and staff over the winter break! The IT Technical Support Center (TSC) will be open on select days, and the IT office will be available by appointment.

UAA to receive $2.1M state funding for College of Health

Earlier this week, Gov. Dunleavy announced a modest funding increase for the university, and today we’ve received more good news from the governor’s office. The College of Health will receive $2.1 million from the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund to increase the school’s capacity to train registered nurses.

INBRE graduate research assistantship opportunity open

Applicants must be full-time graduate students currently enrolled in Ph.D. or Master’s Degree programs at UAF, UAA or UAS, and in good academic standing (min. 3.0 GPA). Applicants are expected to have formed a graduate advisory committee and filed a graduate study plan.

UAA and Ted Stevens Foundation commemorate ANCSA’s 50th anniversary

The ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ is partnering with the Ted Stevens Foundation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of signing the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA), the largest land claims settlement in U.S. history. In 1971, President Richard Nixon signed the law, which ‘settled’ ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ Native aboriginal claims and transferred more than 40 million acres of land to ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ’s Native people.
