The Department of Writing is hosting a writing open mic, Nov. 14. Students and employees are invited to bring a short piece of writing they have been working on to this annual open mic event and share it with a supportive group of peers and writing faculty. The event is open to any genre of writing, so long as it tasteful and under five minutes. Pizza and sparkling water will be provided.

On Nov. 3, 2024, the Government of Japan announced that Hiroko Harada, professor emerita at the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ and chair of the Anchorage Sister City Commission, has been awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette, in recognition of her distinguished service in promoting the Japanese language in the United States and in contributing to the amicable relations between Japan and the United States.
