Native Student Clubs

Join a club on UAA campus! These are clubs for Native students by Native students.

Native Student Council

Through community building, Native Student Council (NSC) aims to foster a sense of belonging for Native students at UAA. With a culturally grounded focus, NSC provides students with support, opportunities for community engagement and leadership development. We are meeting every other Tuesday at Native Student Services. To get our meeting schedule or if you have any questions, contact us at nsc.uaa@alaska.edu.

Native Languages Club

NSS started this weekly meeting as a Yugtun/Yup'ik Club, but it has expanded over the years. We want to create a space for us to learn, share, and practice our Native languages! Join us at Native Student Services on Fridays 12pm-1pm. We welcome all levels of speakers of Native languages so we can learn from each other and together! If you have any questions, email Nasgauk at pfjones2@alaska.edu.

Traditional Games

If you did NYO growing up and want to continue OR if you have always wanted to try, join the Traditional Games Club (college-level NYO), a registered student club! All Indigenous students are welcome, even if you are totally new to the Games. You can just practice with us or there are opportunities to compete as a UAA team at Traditional Games competitions. Complete the , and we'll be in touch!
