Biography

Dr. Ryan Fortson is an associate professor at the Justice Center, where he teaches undergraduate Legal Studies courses. He is also involved with the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ High School Mock Trial Competition and is a member of the Law Related Education Committee of the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ Bar Association. Dr. Fortson is on the Board of Directors of the Anchorage Bar Association and is a past president. He moved to Anchorage in the summer of 2001 to clerk for Chief Justice Dana Fabe of the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ Supreme Court. Dr. Fortson graduated summa cum laude from Amherst College in 1993, received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Minnesota in 2000, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2001. He is the recipient of the prestigious Ben Walters' Distinguished Service Award in 2012.
