Event Parking
On campus for an event?
Need to waive permit enforcement for your event?
Parking Fee Waiver - Individual Permits - Exclusive Reservation
Parking Services will respond to special requests with options that will best fit the needs of the requester. Any special parking needs or use of a lot, regardless of the event's affiliation with UAA, requires submitting a Special Parking Request to the Parking Services Office, preferably two weeks prior to the date of the event.
If you have submitted a Special Parking Request and have not received a confirmation email within three days of your event, please call the Parking Services Enforcement and Operations Supervisors at (907)786-1121 or (907)786-7751.
A discount of 25% is applied for any event parking that is specifically requested by and for the purposes of either a UAA department or a verifiable non-profit organization (tax exempt status).
A discount of 50% is applied for any event parking that is specifically requested by and for the purpose of a registered UAA student club.
PLEASE NOTE - Restricted/specialty marked spaces are NOT included in any of the waivers (ex: Priority Parking, ADA Compliant Spaces without a placard, Fleet Spaces, Customer 30 minute, Loading Zones, etc.). All individually marked spaces are treated as the posted signage indicates unless is has been bagged by UAA Parking Services. The special event waivers ensure parking permits will not be enforced; this does NOT include citations pertaining to specialty marked spaces and/or municipal offenses. To avoid parking congestion and ensure parking availability to students, space for construction projects, etc. UAA Parking Services reserves the right to deny any special event request or modify as is necessary.

What is included and what is NOT included?
What iS included - UAA Parking will NOT write citations for those who do not pay-to-park or display main lot permits in the designated area. This is not advertised to avoid attracting additional vehicles that may be unrelated to the event and would otherwise park in a different location. The requester will need to communicate to their own customers/attendees that they do not need to pay when parking.
What is NOT included - Exclusive use of the lot is not granted. When a waiver is approved, the lot is free for your guests but it is still a shared space. Other permit holders and visitors will be using the lot and/or the pay-n-park machine located there. We do not provide signage though we will let you know where signage can be placed if you want to use your own. We do not provide staff, hand out materials, or provide similar event services. We do not act as a point of contact for the event, though we are happy to provide the contact information you provide if they reach out to us.

Individual Permits
Any special parking needs or use of a lot, regardless of the event's affiliation with UAA, requires submitting a Special Parking Request to the Parking Services Office, preferably two weeks prior to the date of the event.
It is often the case, especially for smaller events, that buying a set number of passes is more cost efficient than providing a waiver for an entire lot. This can be done through pre-arranged scratch-offs, Passport Parking App use, or codes placed in the pay-n-park machines. Normally it is $10/day or $2/hour for each vehicle.
- Scratch-Offs - Hang tags sold in advance that can be "scratched off" for a specific date. They are given to the requester in advance and work best when they can hand them out to the attendees prior to the event. Please contact our office at (907) 786-1119 or via email at uaa_parkingfrontdesk@alaska.edu for this option.
- Passport - A smartphone app allowing for payment by license plate number. This is a good solution for small groups where a single person can use a company card to pay for the users as they walk in. Access Passport Parking's online portal at
- Pay-N-Park - A custom rate and validation code can be used. A useful option is the group is spread out or not arriving together.

Exclusive Reservation
Any special parking needs or use of a lot, regardless of the event's affiliation with UAA, requires submitting a Special Parking Request to the Parking Services Office, preferably two weeks prior to the date of the event.
This option is warranted when an event sponsor needs a set amount of space exclusively reserved for their use only. This requires the spaces or lot to be coned off by Parking Services staff the evening prior, normally after campus closes, and then kept closed through the day until the event. This is done to ensure the spaces availability for the time of the event.
Rate for Exclusive Reservation |
First space - $25 Each additional Space - $5 Labor/staffing - $50/hour |
What is included and what is NOT included?
What iS included - UAA Parking will make every effort to ensure the lot or spaces are available, clear, and provide a substitute in the event of unforseen circumstances (such as construction or an individual who disregards our traffic devices). Please understand we can cite violators but we cannot request immediate tow services.
What is NOT included - Staffing at the event is not provided. When your event starts we are turning over access control of the lot or spaces to the requester and their own staff of designees. While we are happy to help when we can, if the requester wants staff to stand at the lot entrance or by the spaces and screen their access, those staff would be charged additionally and separately from the base reservation rate.
