Tuition Cap

Icon of white circle with dollar sign.Current active duty service members, reserves, and national guard members are now eligible for tuition to be capped at $250 per credit maximum and have all student fees waived. Please note: The tuition cap does not apply to graduate tuition. The fee waiver does not apply to course or lab fees. The tuition cap and student fees waiver does not apply to dependents.

Only courses that are applicable to your degree program can be paid for using Military Tuition Assistance (TA).

How to Use Your Military TA

Checklist for new, transfer and current students using their Military Tuition Assistance (TA).

1Contact your Education Center.

Make your appointment with your Education Center counselor to assist you with the TA process.

2Register for classes.

Register for class using . Remember, only the courses that are applicable to your degree program can be certified for VA benefits. 

It is highly suggested that you work with an academic advisor and refer to to confirm that courses are applicable to your degree program.

3Apply for tuition assistance.

  • MyCAA: Please e-mail MyCAA financial aid vouchers to uaa_veterans@alaska.edu. The UAA MVSS team will have MyCAA financial aid vouchers posted to your student account by the payment deadline.
  • ArmyIgnited: Please email your TA voucher to the UAA MVSS team at uaa_veterans@alaska.edu.
    Please include your with your name and student ID#. We will have your TA posted by payment deadline.
  • Air Force: Please email your TA voucher to the UAA MVSS team at uaa_veterans@alaska.edu.
    Please include your with your name and student ID#. We will have your TA posted by payment deadline.

4Maximize all funding resources.

5Check your preferred and UAA email frequently.
