Biography
Lauren Stanford was born and raised in Anchorage, ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ. She grew up spending her summers at her grandparents’ remote homestead on Lake Clark, which fostered her imagination and inspired her love of animals. Lauren began working with clay while pursuing an English (Creative Writing) degree from Colorado State University. In 2010, she graduated and returned to ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ. Lauren earned her BFA from the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ in 2018. She then spent the following two years as a long-term Artist in Residence at the Mendocino Art Center in California and as a short-term Artist in Residence at the Red Lodge Clay Center in Montana. Lauren is also a fourth-generation Bristol Bay commercial fisherman and sets nets near the mouth of the Naknek river each summer. Currently, Lauren is an Adjunct Professor of Ceramics and Studio Technician at the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ.
