Purpose

To provide the authority to administer the university financial aid program.

Delegation Authority

Internal Aid The Directors/President are delegated the authority to fully administer the following university financial aid programs:

  1. Miscellaneous scholarships donated by private individuals, foundations, or corporations either directly to the college or through the University Foundation. These are normally restricted funds subject to provisions stipulated by the donors.
  2. Alumni Association Talent Grants. SW Administration annually sends out notification of allocated amounts, special provisions, and reporting requirements.
  3. The UA President Scholarship Fund (restricted funds). These funds are annually distributed from the University鈥檚 Endowment funds and are subject to certain restrictions. Information is disseminated by SW Administration.
  4. The University Foundation Scholarship Fund (restricted funds). SW Administration annually provides information on amounts available and distribution constraints.
  5. Student Tuition Waivers. Refer to BOR Policy 05.10.08 and SW Accounting Manual section P-77.
  6. Senior Citizen Tuition Waivers. Refer to BOR Policy 05.10.08 and SW Accounting Manual section P-77.
  7. Employee and Dependent Course Credit Hour Waivers. Refer to BOR Policy 04.06.01.
  8. Waiver of Non-Resident Tuition. Refer to UA Regulation 05.10.04
  9. Emergency Loans.

Federal & State Aid The following Federal and State student aid programs are administered through the Anchorage Campus Financial Aid Office.

  • Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
  • College Work Study Program
  • Stafford Loan
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs Grant-in-Aid

  • Federal Plus Loan

Delegation Criteria Compliance with the university policies and procedures on financial aid.
Applicability All community campuses have the delegation authority for financial aid expressed in this policy unless special limits or requirements are set by the Vice Chancellor for Administration.
