To specify the community campus delegation authority and responsibilities for employee relations

Policy

Delegation AuthorityThe Directors/President are responsible for ensuring that new employees receive an orientation that includes information on personnel programs, policies and regulations, processes, and standards of performance and conduct.
The Directors/President have the delegated the authority to administer disciplinary actions to employees to maintain standards of performance and conduct within the work group and to prevent and correct serious personnel problems. Termination 鈥渇or cause鈥 requires the approval of the Director of UAA Human Resource Services, UA Statewide Executive Director of Human Resources, and review by legal counsel.
The Directors/President are responsible for their units completion of annual employee performance evaluations.
Delegation CriteriaConformance with the referenced policy and regulation including:

  1. Establishment of consistent disciplinary procedures at the unit level.
  2. Assurance that each problem is adequately investigated.
  3. The dignity of the employee is respected.
  4. Actions are primarily corrective rather than punitive and appropriate to the offense.
  5. The employee is informed and provided with an opportunity to respond to each phase of the disciplinary process.
  6. Written reprimand, probation, or suspension that is acknowledged by the employee and copied to the employee's personnel file.
  7. The completion annual performance evaluations for regular employees.

ApplicabilityAll community campuses have the delegation authority and responsibilities for employee relations expressed in this policy unless special limits or requirements are set by the Vice Chancellor for Administration.
